On the 10th of June 2009, the board of the platform on the potential of cultural and creative industries presented its final recommendations to the members of the platform and representatives of the European Commission (Directorate General Education and Culture - DG EAG). The platform, constructed by the DG EAG, began its work last year in order to engage in a structured dialogue with the cultural sector in drawing up a list of recommendations that would improve the status of the artist in Europe. The platform functioned in 5 working groups which drafted recommendations on 5 themes and gave best examples on how to conduct programmes and projects. Since January 2009, the board has worked on compiling the efforts of those 5 working groups in a single document. The next step will see the recommendations being addressed to the European Commission, to member states and to regions at a forum from September 28th to 30th.
